Nagqu, Tibet (32.40N, 93.79E), depth 10 km; epicentre elevation ~4,800 m and
area is sparsely populated. The State Council earthquake-relief command office
and the Ministry of Emergency Management have activated a national level-4
earthquake-disaster emergency response and dispatched a working group to the
site. Emergency Management Minister Zhang Chengzhong conducted a video briefing,
ordering rapid verification of damage, full search-and-rescue efforts,
population evacuation and stepped-up seismic monitoring.
