The White House said on Oct. 22 President Trump invoked the Defense Production Act to designate domestic oil exploration and production, pipeline transport, storage, refining and marine terminals as critical national-defense resources. The action authorizes the federal government to use direct procurement, purchase commitments, financing and other financial measures to expand related capacity. The statement cited financing constraints, long project lead times, permitting and infrastructure bottlenecks and supply‑chain limits as reasons U.S. firms have struggled to meet demand, and said Trump waived certain requirements of Section 303 to speed expansion.

Yuanjie Technology said AI-driven demand has created a supply–demand imbalance, opening a window for domestic laser suppliers to enter the high‑end data‑center market. The company currently ships data‑center CW lasers (70mW, 100mW) and 100G EML modules. It plans to develop and validate higher‑power and higher‑rate lasers targeting NPO, CPO and higher‑speed pluggable‑module applications. Yuanjie added the sector’s high technical barriers and rapid iteration will keep competition focused among leading firms, particularly in high‑end products.
