Kadena town mayor has demanded the plan be withdrawn. The Russian foreign ministry earlier called the deployment unacceptable and urged Japan to acknowledge WWII outcomes and stop re-militarization.

Trump said on the 23rd he has not yet spoken with Elon Musk about restrictions on Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starlink satellite communications. He said he’d heard the issue was resolved but would speak to Musk if problems persist, and described Musk as fair and unlikely to make mistakes on Starlink access for Ukraine.
