CFTC: For the week to Oct. 20, speculative net short positions in CME S&P 500 futures fell by 42,221 contracts to 348,674 contracts.

The Ministry of Natural Resources Tsunami Warning Center preliminarily reports a magnitude-6.8 earthquake at 14.21°S, 165.54°E, depth 15 km at 10:31 Beijing time on Oct. 24, 2026. Exact parameters await determination by the China Earthquake Networks Center. Based on initial parameters, the center judges the quake could produce a local tsunami around the epicenter but will not affect China’s coast. The center will continue to monitor seismic and tsunami data and issue updates.
