Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has ordered Israel to back Argentina's
sovereignty claim over the Malvinas (Falkland) Islands, instructing diplomats to
shift Israel's official stance, join Buenos Aires in calling for direct talks on
the islands' future, and acknowledge Argentina's historical ties to the
territory. Netanyahu is close to Argentine President Javier Milei. The decision
comes after UK foreign minister Ed Miliband last month moved to impose economic
sanctions on West Bank settlements; Netanyahu changed his position against that
backdrop.
