A high-quality brain–computer interface (BCI) dataset project led by Tongji Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology was launched in Wuhan on the 24th. The hospital said it will build the dataset in partnership with leading domestic hospitals and core enterprises; the project is planned to be completed and operational in 2027. The dataset will target 10 clinical areas — stroke rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, disorders of consciousness, refractory pain, facial paralysis, speech-function disorders, movement-disorder diseases and gastrointestinal neuroregulation — covering primary clinical scenarios for neuromodulation and functional restoration. The programme will assemble six data modalities, prioritising brain-signal acquisition, intention decoding, functional assessment, closed-loop neuromodulation and rehabilitation-interaction multimodal datasets.
