Brazil's 2026 presidential runoff began at 08:00 BRT on the 25th. The Supreme
Federal Court ruled to extend poll closing from 17:00 to 19:00 BRT (04:00–06:00
Beijing time on the 26th; 20:00–22:00 UTC) to address widespread
public-transport stoppages and heavy rain that disrupted voting. Vote-counting
is expected within hours after polls close. In the first round on the 4th,
Liberal Party candidate Flavio Bolsonaro won about 47% of valid votes and led
incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of the Workers' Party by roughly 2
percentage points; recent polls show the contest remains tight.
