The Dutch central government plans AI-driven efficiency reforms to cut roughly
25,000 civil-service posts and achieve annual savings of €3.5 bln (~$3.9 bln),
the government said on Monday. It targets €900 mln a year by 2027 and €3.5 bln
by 2035; the cabinet will present the proposal early next year to use AI to
boost productivity. The government’s budget deficit stands at 1.8%, low relative
to EU peers, but that level and its long-term trajectory have prompted concern
in fiscally conservative Netherlands.
