Gulf markets slipped in early Wednesday trade after reports a Saudi refinery was
attacked, reviving concerns over a broader Middle East disruption to oil supply.
Yemen's Houthi rebels said on Tuesday they struck the facility with a ballistic
missile; the refinery processes about 550,000 bpd and is Saudi Arabia's largest
domestic refinery. Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the attack.
Saudi benchmark index fell 1.3% intraday, Abu Dhabi's index dropped 1.0% and
Dubai's lost 0.5%. Oil and bank stocks led declines; shipping stocks rose. Saudi
Aramco fell about 1.3%, the biggest drag on the Saudi market.
