BOC Governor Macklem said he certainly expects business investment to be stronger.

TransUnion SVP Charlie Wise said today's Fed pause reflects policymakers balancing inflation risks against a still-resilient economy and labor market. Recent inflation prints have exceeded expectations and remain well above the Fed's target, but officials opted to assess the September hike and ongoing labor-market conditions; early signals point to a possible December increase. Market implication: the pause removes immediate upward pressure on consumer borrowing costs, but rate risk remains. Credit-card borrowers face higher tail costs if inflation persists and rates stay elevated; carrying larger balances through the holiday season could be expensive.
