Local reports say the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has encouraged banks to support developers’ refinancing to prevent further stress in the Hong Kong commercial property market. The HKMA recently met with the Real Estate Developers Association and lenders to discuss upcoming debt maturities, highlighting several mid‑sized developers that are asset‑rich but cash‑flow constrained as well as a few large groups. An HKMA spokesman said the authority communicates regularly with banks and other stakeholders but would not comment on specific discussions.

Analyst Chris Anstey said he had previously learned that Fed chair Kevin Warsh proposed adjusting the number of rate-decision meetings to six per year, with two additional meetings reserved for broader economic and policy discussion.
