Fed Chair Kevin Warsh said at the end of a press conference he does not plan to attend a White House disciplinary hearing the administration is seeking to schedule for next week on Fed Governor Lisa Cook. The hearing is part of President Donald Trump’s ongoing effort to remove Cook over allegations she made false statements on mortgage applications, the central basis for the removal push. Trump first sought Cook’s dismissal more than a year ago; Cook sued and the case reached the U.S. Supreme Court, which this summer ruled the president cannot remove Fed officials without cause. Trump has formed a three-member panel, led by his chief economic adviser, to investigate Cook and hold evidentiary hearings.
