Beijing, Oct. 29 — Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, at a regular
briefing, was asked by an AP reporter about an announcement at the ASEAN defence
ministers' meeting that the United States and Japan had agreed to jointly
produce mid‑range air‑to‑air missiles. Guo said US‑Japan security cooperation
should not undermine regional peace and stability or be directed against or harm
the interests of other countries. He accused Japan’s current government of
repeatedly breaching international and domestic law under the pretext of
countering threats, challenging the post‑war international order and threatening
regional peace and stability, and said the international community must be
highly vigilant and firmly contain such actions.
