Axios reported a US official said Vice President Vance sent a letter to Iran’s
Supreme National Security Council Secretary Rezai saying any negotiations aimed
at preventing a US military strike "must address the nuclear issue." The letter,
focused on the possibility of restarting US‑Iran talks, is the highest‑level US
contact with Iran in months. Vance urged President Trump to send the letter; a
US official said Trump is positive about it but declined to disclose when it was
sent. Trump told reporters Wednesday the letter was intended to help Iran obtain
needed medical supplies.
