US stocks closed lower Thursday: Dow fell 0.25%, S&P 500 down 0.3%, Nasdaq down 1.38%. Alphabet (GOOG.O) plunged 12.6%. Micron Technology (MU.O) and SanDisk (SNDK.O) slid about 5% each. Apple (AAPL.O) rose over 1%. The Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index gained 0.2%; Alibaba (BABA.N) fell more than 1%.

China A-share CRO sector rebounded from intraday losses; Ruizhi Pharma rose over 12%, Dongfang Haiyang hit the daily limit, Jin'an Protein gained nearly 11%, Wanbang Pharma, Baihua Pharma and Puruisi also advanced.

At the morning open, China's front-month futures were mostly lower. Shanghai silver fell over 4%, Shanghai tin nearly 4%, lithium carbonate down more than 3%, p-xylene nearly 3%; platinum and PTA slipped over 2%; coking coal and polysilicon declined over 1%. On the upside, caustic soda rose nearly 3%; pulp, plastics, glass, polypropylene, urea and LPG gained over 1%, while ethylene glycol was up about 1%.
