Three senior Gulf officials told U.S. media the Trump administration has notified Gulf allies to prepare for a possible brief, intense new round of military strikes on Iran on Nov. 4 (the day after U.S. midterm elections). The administration’s stated objectives are to further degrade Iran’s nuclear program or compel a deal. The U.S. has not struck Iran since Sept. 1 and is currently pressuring Tehran via a maritime blockade of Iranian ports. Gulf officials said some states may oppose U.S. use of bases on their territory for such attacks.

RIA reported the FSB said it received, via established cooperation channels from the US, information on preparations for a possible terrorist attack in Moscow and is taking corresponding measures. The US embassy in Moscow said it had become aware of a credible threat of mass casualties at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve on Saturday and that the US government was coordinating with Russian authorities.
