Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Baghaei said the United States is undoubtedly
the biggest threat to the nuclear non‑proliferation regime. He said threats or
implied use of certain weapons against a state encourage violations of the NPT,
that other countries including nuclear‑armed states are closely watching U.S.
actions, and that U.S. behavior is setting a precedent that threatens
international peace and security. Baghaei added such threats will only harden
Iran’s resolve to strengthen its defenses.
