Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman BAGHAEI said at a Monday briefing the current
talks should not be seen as separate from the Islamabad Understanding because
the counterpart, demands and issue remain the same. Tehran’s demand is that the
US implement commitments it accepted under the Islamabad Understanding but later
violated. BAGHAEI said the US should first lift all sanctions imposed after that
violation under the pretext of "economic exclusion actions" and carry out other
agreed measures, including unfreezing Iranian funds and assets. He said these
steps are not diplomatic preconditions but are necessary to restore security in
the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.
