Nov. 2 — Wang Yi, Political Bureau member and director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, met in Beijing with Saudi state minister, cabinet member and national security adviser Aiban. Aiban handed a letter from Saudi Crown Prince and prime minister Mohammed bin Salman to Xi Jinping on China–Saudi bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern. They exchanged views on the Gulf security situation. Wang said the region is at a critical juncture between war and peace, urged parties to resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiation to halt hostilities, and called for safeguarding regional energy supplies and shipping routes. China said regional states should rebuild trust, improve relations and consult to develop a regional security architecture aligned with long-term regional interests.

US natural gas futures rose after weekend production declined, led by the Appalachian shale region, suggesting producers may be voluntarily trimming output amid weak prices. Weather forecasts ticked slightly colder, supporting near-term heating and power demand, but most of the US is still expected to run warmer-than-seasonal in coming weeks, which should cap price upside. Flows into LNG export terminals eased, leaving more gas in the domestic market and adding downward pressure on prices.
