The dollar weakened as investors fretted over the outlook for AI investment and
uncertainty ahead of Tuesday's US midterm elections. Apple (AAPL.O) warned
Monday that operating costs for AI tools will squeeze margins, amplifying doubts
about the sustainability of AI spending. AI model developer ANTHROPIC reported
an operating loss in Q3 after a costly data-center deal, and rival OpenAI's
latest funding round raised less than half of an initial $30 bln target. Higher
oil prices, which tend to support the dollar, provided some offset after a US
strike on Iran's Qeshm Island pushed crude up. The dollar index (DXY) fell 0.12%
to 101.684; earlier Monday it touched 101.426, a one-month low.
