The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy said early on the 3rd that three oil
tankers exploded and caught fire while transiting an "illegal" channel in the
Strait of Hormuz. The vessels, the IRGC said, had switched off navigation and
identification systems and struck mines; they are now grounded on the strait’s
southern shore. The IRGC navy said Iran had repeatedly broadcast navigation
rules to all ships and warned that violations could result in such incidents.
