Qatar said it will continue mediating between the US and Iran after a Qatari delegation held roughly three hours of talks in Tehran; both sides are reportedly willing to continue negotiations and consider mediation proposals but no breakthrough has been reached. Doha is coordinating with Pakistan, the GCC and other regional partners; joint mediation remains a priority. The foreign ministry said navigation freedom in the Strait of Hormuz and the Arabian Gulf is non-negotiable, condemned an attack on the gas carrier Al Mayeda and warned that military escalation or further ship attacks would threaten regional security and jeopardise talks. Qatar’s emir discussed the crisis and Russia’s possible role with President Putin during a visit to Moscow, and Doha says it remains in high-level contact with Iran. The ministry dismissed Israeli allegations of Qatari election interference as baseless and said they will not affect Qatar’s mediation on Iran and Gaza, and reiterated support for Yemen’s legitimate government while condemning Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.
