The Dutch government nominated former Netherlands central bank governor Klaas Knot to serve as president of the European Central Bank.

The Reserve Bank of India has set up a seven-member technical advisory group, chaired by the deputy governor in charge of financial markets, to assess the efficiency, liquidity and resilience of India’s foreign-exchange and government bond markets. The move comes as the RBI has been intervening frequently to support the rupee, which is among this year’s weakest Asian currencies. The central bank has also tightened rules to curb speculation in currency derivatives and is draining surplus liquidity to rein in inflation risks. The panel will identify emerging policy and operational issues, implementation challenges for RBI measures and any potential unintended market frictions.

The National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine have revised the 2018 Procedures for Drafting the Rare Disease Catalogue and issued a 2026 edition to strengthen rare-disease management and improve the catalogue's scientific basis while enhancing diagnosis, treatment and patient support. Major changes: expanded criteria for inclusion and broader disease coverage; additional eligible applicants for proposing catalogue entries to involve relevant professional bodies; the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine added as a co-issuing agency, with clarified TCM responsibilities and an emphasis on TCM–Western medicine coordination in rare-disease prevention and treatment; optimization of the drafting cycle to enable timely updates in practice; and explicit guidance that the catalogue is for reference use by relevant departments.
