On Nov. 4, in his first public remarks since the midterm setbacks, Trump said
the Iran war was a key factor in Republican losses and lifted oil prices, and
that his personal support did not transfer to other GOP candidates. He said the
conflict with Iran is worth fighting to prevent it acquiring nuclear weapons,
that he will decide when the war ends, and denied he promised an immediate
post-midterms end. He said he will not intervene in the House GOP leadership
contest and denied plans to replace Defense Secretary Hegseth, saying Hegseth is
doing a very good job. He added Democrats have called to talk and warned that
impeachment would destroy the party.
