On Nov. 6, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said Beijing rejects US State
Department sanctions on Cuba that name two Chinese companies, which Washington
says supplied electronic and security equipment to the Cuban military. Guo said
China’s cooperation with Cuba is legitimate, firmly opposes unilateral sanctions
without UN Security Council authorization and so-called "long-arm jurisdiction,"
rejects US interference in China-Cuba cooperation, affirms support for Cuban
sovereignty, and will take all necessary measures to protect the lawful rights
of its companies.
