Rashesh Shah, chairman of Indian financial group Edelweiss Financial Services, urged India to consider removing capital gains tax on foreign equity investors to help revive the domestic stock market. Shah said calls for tax exemptions are rising as markets expect such a move to attract inflows and support the rupee, adding that scrapping the levy on foreign investors may be an easier way to signal India welcomes them.
