Financial Times reports Anthropic agreed in late September to a $3.4 billion purchase commitment for 1.7 GW of heavy gas-fired generators from OnePWR Solutions (San Antonio, Texas). The deal includes engineering and construction capacity to install the units; Anthropic did not acquire OnePWR or its employees. OnePWR had ordered the Caterpillar-built generators about two years ago but required financing; Anthropic initially planned to be OnePWR’s customer and ultimately took over its Caterpillar order.

On Nov. 8 morning local time Saudi civil defence issued a danger alert for Riyadh after multiple explosions were heard across the city; the alert was later lifted. A Saudi-led coalition spokesman, Turki al-Maliki, said air defences intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles fired by Yemen’s Houthi movement toward Riyadh. The coalition later said it intercepted and destroyed two cruise missiles in the Riyadh area and in southern Saudi Arabia, and earlier intercepted a ballistic missile aimed at the eastern region. Civil defence alerts issued for Dammam, Al-Zahran and Buqayq were also lifted.
