Beike Research Institute data show Shenzhen’s new-home and resale markets warmed in August. Resale contract signings at Beike’s Shenzhen partner stores rose 13% week-on-week last week; average daily resale signings in August were 9% higher than July, with Aug. 9 the highest daily level since June. New-home subscription volumes increased 14% week-on-week last week; average daily new-home subscriptions in August were up 40% versus July, indicating earlier pent-up demand is being released.

Democratic U.S. Senator Chris Murphy said in an Aug. 9 interview the U.S. has "essentially lost the war" with Iran and urgently needs to end hostilities and restore navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. He warned each day of delay makes the U.S. weaker and Iran stronger, and said that although any near-term deal would be "very unfavorable" and amount to a "major victory" for Iran, the U.S. must accept it and withdraw as soon as possible.
