This is seen as the EU's first response to the latest pressure from US President Trump. On March 17, Trump announced on social media that he would impose a 10% tariff on goods imported into the US from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland starting February 1, and claimed that the tariff rate would increase to 25% from June 1, until the parties involved reach an agreement on the US's "full and complete purchase of Greenland."
