[WeChat Spring Festival Data Report: Travel and Entertainment Transactions Up 20%] On February 23, WeChat released its 2026 Spring Festival data report. The report shows that during the Spring Festival, offline transactions in travel and entertainment both increased by over 20% year-on-year. Destinations with "Malaysia" in their names, such as Malaysia and the Maldives, saw a surge in popularity, with offline transaction amounts increasing by 131% and 186% year-on-year, respectively. Furthermore, transactions in Macau and Hong Kong increased by 39% and 24% year-on-year, respectively, ranking among the top five overseas destinations for offline transactions, along with Thailand, South Korea, and Malaysia. Meanwhile, the large-scale return-home rush significantly boosted domestic demand in lower-tier cities. The report shows that the five cities with the fastest growth in payment transactions in these markets were Tongliao, Cangzhou, Anshan, Chifeng, and Zhoukou. Among tourist destinations, Nanchong and Kaifeng saw over 50% year-on-year growth in scenic area transactions, while Suzhou, Huangshan, Xi'an, and Putian saw over 30% year-on-year growth. The top five WeChat search terms for "Zhanjiang," "Huangshan," "Hong Kong," "Hainan," and "Shantou" also saw significant year-on-year increases.
