[Trump Administration Officials Prepare to Announce New Trade Investigations, Potentially to Rebuild Tariff Barriers] According to a source familiar with the matter, following the Supreme Court's rejection of Trump's tariff plan, the Trump administration is preparing to announce a series of trade investigations on Wednesday, a move aimed at paving the way for new tariffs on imported goods. The source revealed that these investigations will be conducted under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 and will be carried out by the Office of the United States Trade Representative. The New York Times, which first reported on the matter, stated that the investigations include issues such as digital services taxes and alleged currency manipulation. These investigations would mark a significant step forward for the Trump administration in rebuilding its "tariff barriers." Tariffs have been a core pillar of Trump's economic policy. On the same day the Supreme Court rejected his tariff policy, Trump announced he would invoke another legal basis to impose a 10% temporary tariff on global goods for 150 days. He subsequently vowed to raise the tariff base to 15%, but the administration has yet to actually implement this higher rate.
