The US and China are considering a mechanism, described by US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer as a potential “US-China Board of Trade,” to formalize trade and investment coordination. The proposal emerged during economic meetings ahead of a planned Beijing summit between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping. China’s Vice Minister Li Chenggang said both sides discussed a working group to promote cooperation mechanisms. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent noted detailed discussions on Trump’s revised tariff regime, following a Supreme Court ruling against prior emergency duties. Meeting timing for Trump’s China trip may be delayed, according to officials.
