Google is quietly rebuilding its relationship with the Defense Department, positioning itself as a reliable A.I. partner while competitors Anthropic and OpenAI faces political and employee backlash. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian pitched Pentagon officials on Feb. 26, offering expanded A.I. capabilities, including its Gemini-powered autonomous systems for unclassified networks. Analyst Michael Nathanson of MoffettNathanson said Google’s early investment in machine learning has begun showing tangible advantages. Alphabet posted $34.5 billion in profit last quarter, and its cloud revenue rose 48% to $17.7 billion, supporting competitive pricing and infrastructure advantages over rivals.
