The Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.55% intraday, dropping below 4,000 points. Sectors such as precious metals, energy metals, chemicals, rare earth permanent magnets, steel, and chemical fibers saw the largest declines, while sectors such as oil, natural gas, and electricity bucked the trend and rose. Approximately 500 stocks rose and 4,900 stocks fell across the market.
