Pakistan is taking a lead role in mediating between the U.S., Israel, and Iran
amid the ongoing Middle East war. Army chief Asim Munir spoke with President
Donald Trump, while Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held talks with
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Senior Pakistani officials are
back-channelling communications between Tehran and U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and
Jared Kushner. Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar are also involved, though analysts
caution that early-stage diplomacy may not resolve the conflict. Iran denies
direct talks with the U.S.
