Russian Foreign Ministry: On March 23, at the request of Egypt, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke by telephone with Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdel-Ati. The two foreign ministers discussed the unprecedented escalation of the military and political situation in the Persian Gulf caused by the actions of the United States and Israel against Iran, and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the region and strengthened collective political and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.
