U.S. President Donald Trump said he does not know if Washington is willing to
pursue a deal with Iran, while asserting Tehran is seeking negotiations.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting in Washington, Trump said Iran is “begging” for a
deal and is in contact with the U.S., adding military operations are ahead of
schedule and could conclude within four to six weeks. He warned of “very
drastic” measures if disruptions persist, said U.S. forces are countering
Iranian drones, and reiterated that Iran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz by
agreeing to the “right deal.”
