Apple Inc. plans to let third-party AI assistants integrate with Siri in its iOS 27 update, expanding beyond its current partnership with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The move aims to strengthen the iPhone’s AI ecosystem as Apple seeks to catch up with competitors. The new “Extensions” system will allow apps like Alphabet Inc.’s Gemini or Anthropic’s Claude to handle queries within Siri. Apple is expected to unveil the changes at its June developer conference, while also pursuing new revenue from AI subscriptions via the App Store.
