China’s steel inventories across 21 cities and five major products stood at
10.82 million tons in early April, down 5.3% or 600,000 tons from late March,
according to the China Iron and Steel Association.
However, stocks remain 50.1% higher than at the start of the year and 10.1%
above the same period last year. Most product categories declined, led by rebar,
while cold-rolled coil saw a slight increase. Compared with a year earlier, all
major products recorded inventory growth, with cold-rolled coil showing the
largest increase.
