US stocks rebounded to close near session highs as Donald Trump said Iran had
reached out to “work out a deal,” lifting sentiment despite a US blockade of the
Strait of Hormuz. The dow rose 0.6%, the S&P 500 gained nearly 1%, and the
nasdaq advanced 1.2%, led by a sharp rally in software stocks. Oil prices eased
to below $100 a barrel, while Goldman Sachs reported strong earnings, marking
the start of the bank reporting season.
