A person familiar with the matter said Iran has outlined details regarding the temporary reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Under the early phase of a US-Iran ceasefire plan brokered with Pakistan’s mediation, Iran was expected to allow a limited number of vessels to transit daily. However, following the failure to enforce a Lebanon-Israel ceasefire, Tehran suspended the arrangement. The source said Iran has set three conditions for passage through the Strait of Hormuz: vessels must be commercial ships with no warships permitted, and neither ships nor cargo may be linked to “belligerent states”; vessels must use Iranian-designated routes; and transit must be coordinated with Iranian forces responsible for the waterway.
