[Ministry of Water Resources Holds Meeting to Deploy Response to Recent Heavy Rainfall] The Ministry of Water Resources has learned that due to recent rainfall, major rivers including the Wujiang River in Guizhou, the Liujiang and Guijiang Rivers in Guangxi, the Xiangjiang, Zishui, and Yuanshui Rivers in Hunan, and the Ganjiang River in Jiangxi are expected to experience rising water levels. Small and medium-sized rivers in the rainstorm areas may experience floods exceeding warning levels. The Ministry of Water Resources has conducted a meeting to assess the situation and has made targeted arrangements for responding to the heavy rainfall. It has required relevant provincial water resources departments and river basin management agencies to strengthen their duty rosters and joint assessments, conduct rolling monitoring and forecasting of rainfall and water levels, promptly issue early warnings, scientifically manage water projects, focus on preventing mountain torrent disasters and floods in small and medium-sized rivers, strengthen the inspection and defense of reservoirs and dikes, and implement safety measures for reservoirs with potential risks and projects under construction during the flood season.
