Samsung Electronics has reportedly stopped accepting new orders for LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X mobile DRAM, according to Korean outlet The Elec. The company has taken its final orders and will only fulfill previously booked volumes before discontinuing the products (end-of-life). The move affects older low-power mobile DRAM lines widely used in smartphones, as Samsung shifts production focus toward newer memory standards. The Elec reports that Samsung Semiconductor pages for LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X now indicate the products are in a phase-out stage.

Shipments of magnets dropped 17% month-on-month to about 184 tons, a nine-month low, while exports of intermediate materials such as oxides plunged nearly 90%, according to Chinese customs data. Analysts said tighter export controls on dual-use materials may be starting to affect flows, following tensions heightened after remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Taiwan. The Institute of Energy Economics, Japan noted more data is needed to confirm the trend.
