The U.S. has expanded over 1,000 Tomahawk missiles and up to 2,000 air-defense
interceptors in the Iran war, with replenishment potentially taking up to six
years, officials said. Some warn this could constrain near-term Taiwan
contingency plans, while others dispute readiness concerns. Adm. Samuel Paparo
told Congress, “I don’t see any real cost being imposed on our ability to deter
China.” Mark Cancian of the Center for Strategic and International Studies said,
“It’s going to be years before we can rebuild those inventories.”
