Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, held talks with Myanmar's Foreign Minister Tin Maung Swe in Naypyidaw on the 25th. Wang Yi stated that both sides should strengthen cooperation in the power and oil and gas sectors to jointly safeguard energy security; expand trade and investment to advance the construction of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor; explore emerging areas of cooperation to help Myanmar enhance its independent development capabilities; deepen security cooperation to maintain peace and stability along the border; resolutely combat online gambling and telecom fraud to protect the lives and property of the people; and strengthen youth exchanges and training to solidify the public opinion foundation for friendship between the two countries. China will continue to speak up for Myanmar on the international stage and strengthen cooperation within the frameworks of the United Nations, China-ASEAN cooperation, and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.
