At the close of New York trading, the euro was worth $1.1721, up from $1.1713 the previous day; the pound sterling was worth $1.3534, up from $1.3521. The dollar was worth 159.44 yen, down from 159.45 yen; 0.7857 Swiss francs, up from 0.7855 Swiss francs; 1.3629 Canadian dollars, down from 1.3673 Canadian dollars; and 9.2252 Swedish krona, down from 9.2304 Swedish krona.
