China’s crude oil output reached 2.16 billion tons in 2025, a record high,
according to the Ministry of Natural Resources. During the 14th Five-Year Plan
period, annual crude production remained above 2 billion tons. Natural gas
output exceeded 260 billion cubic meters, marking nine consecutive years of
annual increases of more than 10 billion cubic meters. Shale oil production
surpassed 8.5 million tons, while shale gas remained above 27 billion cubic meters
meters. Total oil and gas output reached 4.2 billion tons of oil equivalent,
according to ministry data.
