President Donald Trump said the administration believes a hantavirus outbreak
linked to a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean is “very much, we hope, under
control," adding that a full report on the incident would be released Friday.
The outbreak has killed three people and seriously sickened several others,
prompting a World Health Organization alert as authorities investigate how the
rare rodent-borne virus spread aboard the vessel carrying about 150 passengers,
which is now heading to Spain’s Canary Islands. Trump said officials were “doing
the best we can” and expressed hope the virus would not spread further.
