China said it dismantled a cross-border drug trafficking network in a joint
operation with the US, highlighting cooperation ahead of an upcoming
presidential summit in Beijing. China’s Ministry of Public Security and the US
Drug Enforcement Administration detained two Chinese and three American
nationals in coordinated raids across Liaoning, Guangdong, Florida and Nevada.
Authorities seized drugs including protonitazene and bromazolam and disrupted a
trafficking route spanning both countries, according to Xinhua. The announcement
comes just before Donald Trump’s visit and follows recent bilateral law
enforcement cooperation, including the repatriation of a Chinese fugitive from
the US.
