Qatar has instructed vessels at its main LNG export hub Ras Laffan to turn off
Automatic Identification System transponders, according to people familiar with
the matter. The directive, issued this week, applies to ships within the port,
anchorages, and surrounding waters. The move is described as a safety measure.
QatarEnergy did not comment immediately.
